International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

August 9, 2026

Today, the world honours the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, a time to reflect on the diverse nations, languages, and knowledge systems that Indigenous Peoples carry forward.

Indigenous Peoples’ territories cover 28% of the globe’s surface, a scale that speaks to just how significant and far-reaching these communities are.

At Cementation, respect and diversity guide how we operate. This day is a chance to deepen our understanding of Indigenous cultures and continue learning from the people and places connected to our work.

To build on that understanding, the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner offers a free e-learning tool with real stories, case studies, and resources on Indigenous Peoples’ rights: https://www.ohchr.org/…/e-learning-tool-rights…
