From South Jordan, Utah, Zach Brown grew up around mining, which sparked an early interest in an industry that plays an essential role in everyday life.
Zach has been part of Cementation’s team since 2019, beginning his career as an intern supporting a large-scale copper project and gaining early exposure to complex underground work. Through a series of project assignments with Cementation, his path has included lateral development for a Tier One client in Colorado, estimating and business development at the corporate office, and hands-on roles across multiple projects in Nevada and Louisiana. Today, he brings that broad site experience back into estimating, grounding his work in practical understanding.
What motivates Zach most is seeing projects move from design to delivery and working alongside engineering and site teams to solve problems safely and effectively. His journey reflects the value of gaining hands-on experience early, asking questions, and building a career that continues to grow and evolve within mining.
Zach’s advice for anyone starting in mining: Get your hands dirty, don’t chain yourself to the computer.
